The City of Shoreline upzoned over 300 acres starting in 2015 and will continue to expand the upzoned areas through 2031. There are three different types of Mixed-Used Residential (MUR) zoning types in Shoreline.
MUR-45 zoning allows buildings as high as 45’, including row houses, townhomes, and apartments. Commercial uses are also permitted, including live/work lofts, ground-floor commercial with residential units above, and professional offices.
Shoreline is an enticing area for developers to build on assemblages of upzoned parcels. The city is Seattle's closest neighbor to the north yet a smaller municipality with a vested interest in growth and redevelopment for more density and accessibility.
